About This Indication
Lipoprotein(a) is a genetic form of cholesterol that diet and exercise cannot change. Research is currently focused on finding treatments for the millions of people living with these high levels.
Studies evaluate whether reducing Lp(a) production can lower the long-term risk of heart attacks and other major cardiovascular events in people who have not yet had a primary event.
Since Lp(a) is not included in standard cholesterol panels, research programs often include free specialized testing to help individuals understand their genetic risk factors.
Investigational therapies often use advanced technology to target the source of Lp(a) in the liver. Participants receive regular cardiovascular health monitoring, including blood work and specialized assessments.
Study Benefits
Free Lp(a) testing is included, along with a full lipid panel and A1c, and results are shared with you with a copy provided for your own doctor. All study care is provided at no cost and no insurance is required. Participants receive $100 per completed visit and travel expenses are reimbursed.

Important Eligibility Criteria
- Adults 50 years of age or older
- Elevated Lp(a), confirmed at screening
- Multiple atherosclerotic cardiovascular risk factors or evidence of atherosclerosis: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, family history of heart disease, or current or past smoking
- No prior heart attack, stroke, transient ischemic attack or acute limb ischemia
- No prior or planned arterial revascularization
- No severe kidney or liver problems
- Not pregnant, nursing or planning pregnancy
- Able to attend study visits in Plant City, FL (transportation provided)
